SOLO CATEGORY

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT

PIANO GRADED CLASS CATEGORY

  • Participants of the Piano Graded Class Category are required to perform only one piece from the graded syllabus (ABRSM / Trinity) in the Preliminary Round. Candidates from the graded syllabus may perform the same or different repertoire in the Final Round.

  • The juries will have all the rights to stop the performance once they have heard enough of the performance.

  • The Grand Final Round is not opened for the Piano Graded Class Category participants. Thus, preparation for Grand Final Round is not needed.​

SOLO CATEGORY

  • Participants of the Solo Category may choose to perform one or more pieces, not exceeding the time limit. 

 

  • The choice of piano work for Intermediate, Senior, Young Artist, and Open Age category must be contrasting in different musical eras if the participant wishes to perform more than one piece.

 

  • Young Children, Children, and Junior division may perform compositions of the same musical era as long as the pieces show contrasting in nature or character.

 

  • All chosen pieces must be originally written and published for piano works between the musical era of Baroque to 21st century. Any simplifications or transcription, (except written by an established composer, for instance, a transcription by Sergei Rachmaninoff or A. W. Mozart) are strictly not recognised in this competition.

 

  • All pieces must be performed as written in the given scores to the judges by the participants.

 

  • Own composition of the participant is not eligible in this competition.

 
 
AWARDS & PRIZES
  • All participants will receive a certificate of participation and an evaluation mark on their performance for the Preliminary Round.

  • The finalists to the Final Round will receive a finalist certificate.

  • In the Final Round, the jury will announce 3 winners (Gold, Silver, Bronze) for each entry of categories, plus 3 additional winners at all categories if necessary except for Open Age division which will only have 3 winners. 

  • Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners of the Piano Graded Class Category will receive a trophy and a certificate.

  • Gold winners of the Solo Category will receive a trophy, certificate, and cash prize award, whereas silver and bronze winners will be awarded a trophy and a certificate. 

  • Teachers of the gold winners from Solo Category, Young Children to Senior division will receive a cash prize award and certificate as a token of appreciation, Young Artist and Open Age division are not included.

  • There will be 6 awards in the Grand Final Round given out as listed on the table below.
